I was just down visiting Lindsay. They have her ventilator turned off and she was breathing completely on her own. Her respirations were between 18 - 22 so a bit high but a lot better than yesterday. They are going to leave her ventilator off for another hour or so and then make a determination if she is strong enough to have the tube taken out or not.
The propothol remains off but her heart rate did have a spike when they turned it off. They said it was around 110 all night and it shot up to the low 130's when they turned it off. Not as high as the 150's yesterday but still higher than they would like it.
She is in a LOT of pain and was wincing and moving around quite a bit. They said that is to be expected and they will try to give her medicine for the pain as much as they can but obviously with as extensive as her injuries are there is going to be some amount of pain involved.
Overall the numbers looked good this morning and I'm hopeful by the time I get back there in a couple hours they will have fully extubated her.

What great news. I am sure that it will be more comfortable for her as well... asuming she can handle the breathing on her own of course.
Wow, glad to hear she is doing really well! People weren't joking when they said she's a fighter.
Go Lindsay!
