July 5th, 10:15 AM

Tim and my dad just came out and gave us an update.

They said the doctors have been in a lot visiting Lindsay today. She has been mostly weaned off of the ventilator this morning. The tube is still in but she is doing 95% of the breathing on her own. They still have the pressure to keep her airways open but have turned the actual ventilator portion off. If she continues to do well they will be taking the tube out within the hour.

Her heart rate is still really high because she is in pain. They have her Propothol down to 15. It was at 15 two days ago but yesterday they had it between 25 - 50 to try to keep her heart rate down. They are still restricting visitors to try to keep her heart rate down but they don't seem too concerned.

She is somewhat alert right now and able to respond to commands. She will open her eyes when you talk to her. When she is asked about pain she says no. They asked her to wiggled her fingers but she raised her arms instead. The doctors said they were not too worried about that since she is still relatively sedated.

They have lowered her Fentanyl down to 100 from 200. Once she is able to talk they will be able to ask her if she has any pain or if her bandages are too tight or any of that.

They have told us that even after the tube is out and she is able to be more alert she will still be in the ICU for at least 24 more hours so they can keep an eye on her.

They said the next hurdle after the tube will be getting her to eat. There was a tear in her stomach and her bowels were bruised so they are going to have to watch her for organ failure once they try to start getting nutrition in her.

The doctor said the over all feeling he wanted to give us was that she she is doing as well as to be expected or maybe a little better but there will still be bumps in the road. She still has major recovery and challenges in her future.

Keep the prayers and good thoughts coming!!
